DBus World API Usage Policy

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the DBus World API, you agree to comply with this API Usage Policy, our Terms of Service, and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the API.

2. Permitted Use

You may use the API to:

  • Build tools, apps, and integrations that enhance the DBus World experience
  • Access public data for legitimate purposes
  • Create personal projects, community tools, or commercial applications
  • Cache responses to reduce server load
  • Display API data in your applications with proper attribution

3. Prohibited Use

You must not:

  • Abuse the API or circumvent rate limits
  • Use the API for spam, harassment, or malicious purposes
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the API
  • Create competing services that replicate core DBus World functionality
  • Access non-public endpoints or bypass access restrictions
  • Share, sell, or redistribute bulk API data
  • Overload servers with excessive requests
  • Attempt to access private user data or bypass privacy settings
  • Use the API in violation of our Terms of Service or applicable laws

4. Rate Limits

Standard Limits:

  • 100 requests per hour per IP address
  • 1,000 requests per day per IP address

Exceeding Limits:

  • Results in 429 Too Many Requests response
  • Response includes Retry-After header
  • Repeated violations may result in temporary or permanent suspension

Best Practices:

  • Implement caching
  • Use exponential backoff for retries
  • Respect Retry-After headers
  • Request only necessary data

5. Data Privacy & Usage

Respect Privacy:

  • Access only public data
  • Don't attempt to access private profiles or restricted information
  • Respect user privacy settings
  • Don't de-anonymize users by correlating data

Attribution:

  • Indicate data comes from DBus World
  • Link back to dbusworld.com where appropriate
  • Don't misrepresent data or its source

Data Storage:

  • Cache responses for reasonable periods
  • Refresh cached data periodically
  • Don't create permanent archives of bulk user data

6. Service Availability

No Guarantees:

  • API provided "as-is" without warranties
  • No guaranteed uptime or availability
  • Endpoints and response formats may change
  • We may deprecate or modify endpoints with or without notice

Maintenance:

  • Scheduled maintenance announced when possible
  • Emergency maintenance may occur without warning

7. Enforcement

Violations Result In:

  • First offense: Warning and rate limit reduction
  • Repeated violations: Temporary suspension (24-72 hours)
  • Severe violations: Permanent API ban
  • Malicious activity: Legal action

Ban Evasion:

  • Attempting to bypass bans results in permanent platform-wide ban
  • We retain identifiers to prevent evasion

Appeals:

  • Contact [email protected]
  • Include IP address, use case, and explanation
  • Reviewed within 7 business days

8. Liability

We're Not Liable For:

  • Data accuracy, completeness, or timeliness
  • Service interruptions or downtime
  • Decisions made based on API data
  • Data loss or unavailability

You're Responsible For:

  • How you use API data
  • Violations committed through your application
  • Compliance with applicable laws
  • Securing your application

Indemnification:

  • You agree to indemnify DBus World for claims arising from your API use
  • Includes legal fees and damages from your violations

9. Intellectual Property

Our Rights:

  • DBus World retains all rights to the API and data
  • API access doesn't grant ownership of content
  • You can't claim ownership of API data

Your Rights:

  • You own applications you build using the API
  • You may use DBus World name/logo for attribution only
  • Don't imply official partnership without permission

10. Termination

We May:

  • Revoke API access at any time for any reason
  • Terminate access temporarily or permanently
  • Act without advance notice

You May:

  • Stop using the API at any time

Upon Termination:

  • Cease all API requests immediately
  • Delete cached data within 30 days

11. Changes to Policy

We may modify this policy at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. Check this page periodically for updates.

12. Governing Law

This policy is governed by Czech law. Disputes must be resolved in Prague, Czech Republic courts. By using the API, you agree to this jurisdiction.
